Draft Pedigree methodology
Draft Pedigree is an investment and opportunity signal. It is not a current talent grade or trade-value estimate.
What it represents
Draft position reflects the level of opportunity and investment the league originally placed in a player.
That information can remain useful context, especially early in a career or when other NFL evidence is limited.
How it is used
- As one part of a broader roster evaluation.
- With more relevance when current NFL evidence is limited.
- With less influence as a veteran’s actual role and history become clearer.
Limits
An early selection does not make a player permanently valuable, and a late selection does not prevent a player from becoming highly valuable. Unknown draft status is not automatically treated as undrafted.
